Alfredo Rus Sánchez
👤 About me
Hi! I’m Alfredo Rus Sánchez, a PhD student at IQM-CSIC (Madrid), working on the computational design of PROTACs using AI, molecular modeling, and structure-based drug design

🎓 Academic Background
I began my academic journey in Sanitary Biology (University of Alcalá) and Chemistry (Complutense University of Madrid), finally graduating in Biochemistry from the same institution. This interdisciplinary background shaped my scientific mindset and broadened my perspective on biomedical challenges.

🧪 Current Research
Since January 2025, I’ve been working at IQM as a predoctoral researcher through the CSIC Momentum program, an initiative fostering digital scientific talent. I’m developing AI-driven workflows to simulate and analyze ternary complexes involved in PROTAC-mediated protein degradation.

💼 Previous Work Experience
-
Research Assistant, Jiménez Díaz Foundation (IIS-FJD)
Worked on translational omics in cardiovascular research. Involved in proteomics/metabolomics studies related to aortic aneurysm and extracellular vesicles.
-
Research Intern, Institute of General Organic Chemistry (IQOG-CSIC)
Contributed to the computational identification of bioactive compounds using virtual screening, molecular modeling and scaffold hopping techniques.

🎬 Beyond the Lab
I'm a huge film lover, a lifelong reader, and an enthusiastic language learner. Curiosity fuels my research… and my daily life.
